Did you see yesterday’s Handmade Holiday blog hop that was all about Handmade Gifts? Today is about Handmade Holiday Decor ideas. My project for this hop is a Glittery Star Christmas Garland.

Glitter Star Garland

I mean who doesn’t like glitter??? Especially for Christmas decor!

Glitter Star Garland

These glittery stars are easy to make. Get the kids to help – they’ll love it! To make the garland you’ll need some double-sided card stock, glitter, and glue.

Glittery Star Garland

Oh, and you’ll need a way to cut stars out of the card stock. I used my Silhouette Cameo, but if you don’t have one, scissors work just fine too. It will just take a little longer.

Glittery Star Garland

How many and how large your stars are will determine how long the garland will be. It’s up to you!

Glittery Star Garland

Once all of the stars are cut, you will run a thin bead of glue along the edges of the stars. I used Bead and Glitter Glue by DecoArt®.

Glittery Star Garland

I especially like using this glue for this project because you can really control the thickness of the bead of glue.

Now the fun part: dump on the glitter! Then shake off the excess.

Glittery Star Garland

My glitter of choice is german glass glitter. This stuff is super sparkly!

Once all of the stars have been glittered up, allow them to dry thoroughly.

Now you will punch two holes in each star – one on the left and one on the right. I chose to put my garland together using jump rings that I picked up in the jewelry-making department at my local craft store. You could also string them together with twine or ribbon. Your choice!

Glittered Star Garland

I like how the jump rings create a chain-like garland. But I think twine would look really nice too.
