I made a table runner last year out of red and white ticking fabric. I like it but have been admiring quilted, patchwork Christmas tree table runners for a while. I have been meaning to make one but I run out of time every year to make one. It’s something that I need to start earlier in the year.
Instead of making that quilted table runner this year, I decided to jazz up the table runner that I had and add some embellishments to it that I cut out with my Cricut Maker. I just love DIY holiday decorating! And the Cricut Maker makes it even easier, especially when it comes to cutting fabric. I love using the Cricut Rotary blade for small sewing projects like this.
I started out by cutting large triangles of black and white buffalo check fabric. I simply inserted a triangle shape into Design space and sized it to fit on my table runner. You can find them here. At this point I decided to make this a “no sew” project. So instead of sewing on the triangles, I opted to cut out 7 more triangles out of double-sided adhesive interfacing.
Using the Cricut EasyPress2, I pressed the interfacing onto the back of each “tree” triangle, and then pressed them onto the table runner.
Then to add a bit of shimmer, I cut out a star shape that I found in Design Space. I used metallic iron on vinyl for the stars and used the Cricut EasyPress2 to attach them to the top of each “tree”.
The stars add just the right amount of bling!
I love how it looks on my long, farmhouse table! And I can’t wait to set the table for Christmas Eve dinner!

You can do so much with the Maker! This is lovely, the black white and red look so good together.
I love that you used what you had and embellished it! This is a great no sew project for someone like me who doesn’t sew. I haven’t cut fabric on my Maker yet but you are giving me ideas!
I love to tablescapes and using my Cricut Maker to make table runners is going to save me a ton of money from buying them at the store!
