My place setting really begins with my table. I built this table last year. Yes, I really did build it. All by myself. I love building furniture and if you would have told me I’d be saying that five years ago, I’d probably would have laughed in your face. ?

How to Build a Farmhouse TableIt all started about five years ago when I asked for some woodworking power tools for Christmas. I had no idea what I was doing at first but I learned. And you can too. You just have to want to. I guess the same could be said about most things.

But anyway, I just like making things. Whether it’s with paper, fabric, or wood. I love to make things. Pretty things.

Back to the place setting. On top of that table (that has since been repainted. Twice ; ) I laid a table runner that I made out of red and white ticking fabric. No tutorial for that. Just a 12″ wide runner that I made by sewing two pieces of fabric, right sides together and then turned right side out. Easy peasy.

On top of the runner is a red shiny plastic charger. I picked those up at HomeGoods. The dishes. I love those dishes! They are the from the Winterberry Collection by Pfaltzgraff. I pick up a few new accessory pieces (like the tea pot) every year.

On top of the dishes is the new fabric Christmas stocking utensil holder that I just made. Isn’t it pretty? Tuck in a name tag and candy cane too!

I love building things and power tools also! So empowering and the end results are also so rewarding! I love the look on people’s faces when I say I did it myself. I actually get to say that about my kitchen… I did about 75% of the complete renovation all by myself!
