Before we start talking about Thanksgiving traditions, I first have to say that I wish Thanksgiving was celebrated a little earlier, don’t you?
I mean Thanksgiving gets a bum deal in my opinion. If it were earlier in the month, or even in late October, we wouldn’t feel so pressured to rush through Thanksgiving and get on with Christmas!
Or maybe we should all just relax and enjoy the holidays one at a time.
There are a lot of websites (mine included) that are posting lots of anything Christmas related. {guilty} But Thanksgiving is TEN DAYS away! Are you getting ready?
I’m getting ready with a little help from an unexpected place: PotteryBarnKids!
I know! I didn’t expect to find so much Thanksgiving help there, but I did!
For example, let’s talk about Thanksgiving food traditions. In my family (and I’m sure in many families across the country) Green Bean Casserole is part of the Thanksgiving table landscape.
I don’t know about you, but the Green Bean Casserole that I grew up on and have served for years to my family is a concoction of canned or frozen green beans with a can of cream of mushroom soup stirred in and a handful of dried onions rings tossed on top. Sound familiar???
I wanted to do better than that. So this year I’m making PotteryBarnKids.
It’s made with fresh green beans, onions, and mushrooms.
Needless to say, it’s 100 times better than the aforementioned green bean casserole! (The PotteryBarnKids pictured at the top is one of Chef Voltaggio’s recipes, too.)
I also found instructions on how to make a Thankful Tree.
The kids are going to love this. In fact, I already showed it to my grandson and he’s so excited to tell everyone about it.
His job is going to be to hand out the leaves to everyone and then ask them to use a marker to write what they’re thankful for on a leaf and then hang their leaf on the tree.
I think this is going to be a fun, new Thanksgiving tradition in our family!
I was pleasantly surprised by all of the wonderful Thanksgiving Party ideas that are shared on Pottery Barn Kids with detailed how-to’s and picture tutorials. Fun crafts like these are great way to get the kids involved in the preparation and planning of the big day.
Another popular tradition is the kids’ table. Are you planning on having a “kids’ table” this year? I am and Pottery Barn Kids has the cutest Thanksgiving tableware that will have the adults secretly yearning to sit at the kids’ table! Just look at those dishes, flatware, tumblers, and table accessories – so darn cute!
And I adore the Thanksgiving tiered stand.
And look at this! The kids can even have their own Turkey Platter at their table! How cute!
Do you have a unique Thanksgiving family tradition? Please share in the comments!
Thank you Pottery Barn Kids for sponsoring today’s post. I have been compensated for this post. All opinions are entirely my own.

SO cute! I want everything – the pie, the green bean casserole, AND those darling Thanksgiving items. Is it bad that I want them for myself? :0
